The prospect of living in Zimbabwe is somewhat of a gamble at the moment, so you could envision that there would be very little desire for visiting Zimbabwe's gambling dens. In fact, it appears to be functioning the other way, with the crucial economic circumstances creating a bigger ambition to bet, to try and locate a fast win, a way out of the problems.

For the majority of the citizens living on the meager local wages, there are two common forms of wagering, the national lotto and Zimbet. Just as with practically everywhere else on the planet, there is a state lotto where the probabilities of profiting are remarkably low, but then the winnings are also extremely large. It's been said by financial experts who look at the situation that many do not purchase a ticket with the rational expectation of profiting. Zimbet is built on either the national or the British football leagues and involves determining the results of future games.

Zimbabwe's gambling halls, on the other shoe, pamper the exceedingly rich of the state and travelers. Up until a short while ago, there was a considerably big tourist business, founded on nature trips and visits to Victoria Falls. The economic woes and associated crime have cut into this trade.

Amongst Zimbabwe's casinos, there are two in the capital, Harare, the Carribea Bay Resort and Casino, which has five gaming tables and one armed bandits, and the Plumtree Casino, which has just the slot machine games. The Zambesi Valley Hotel and Entertainment Center in Kariba also has just one armed bandits. Mutare contains the Monclair Hotel and Casino and the Leopard Rock Hotel and Casino, the pair of which contain table games, slot machines and video machines, and Victoria Falls houses the Elephant Hills Hotel and Casino and the Makasa Sun Hotel and Casino, the pair of which offer slot machines and table games.

In addition to Zimbabwe's gambling dens and the previously mentioned lottery and Zimbet (which is very like a pools system), there are also two horse racing tracks in the country: the Matabeleland Turf Club in Bulawayo (the 2nd municipality) and the Borrowdale Park in Harare.

Since the economy has deflated by beyond 40% in recent years and with the associated poverty and conflict that has cropped up, it isn't understood how healthy the vacationing business which supports Zimbabwe's gambling halls will do in the next few years. How many of the casinos will carry through till conditions improve is basically unknown.
