Casino betting has grown in leaps ... bounds across the World. For each new year there are brand-new casinos starting in old markets and new territories around the globe.

When most people contemplate working in the betting industry they naturally think of the dealers and casino workers. it is only natural to envision this way considering that those staffers are the ones out front and in the public purvey. Still, the gaming business is more than what you may observe on the gaming floor. Playing at the casino has grown to be an increasingly popular fun activity, reflecting expansion in both population and disposable earnings. Job growth is expected in established and expanding gambling regions, such as sin city, Nevada, and Atlantic City, New Jersey, and in other States that seem likely to legalize making bets in the years ahead.

Like just about any business establishment, casinos have workers that direct and look over day-to-day happenings. Several job tasks of gaming managers, supervisors, and surveillance officers and investigators do not require interaction with casino games and patrons but in the scope of their functions, they should be capable of managing both.

Gaming managers are responsible for the entire management of a casino's table games. They plan, organize, direct, control, and coordinate gaming operations within the casino; design gaming protocol; and select, train, and organize activities of gaming employees. Because their day to day jobs are so variable, gaming managers must be quite knowledgeable about the games, deal effectively with employees and members, and be able to determine financial issues affecting casino growth or decline. These assessment abilities include arriving at the P...L of table games and slot machines, knowing situations that are prodding economic growth in the u.s.a. and more.

Salaries will vary by establishment and area. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) numbers show that full-time gaming managers were paid a median annual salary of $46,820 in 1999. The lowest 10 % earned less than $26,630, and the highest 10 % earned more than $96,610.

Gaming supervisors oversee gaming operations and workers in an assigned area. Circulating among the table games, they see that all stations and games are covered for each shift. It also is typical for supervisors to interpret the casino's operating regulations for bettors. Supervisors could also plan and arrange activities for guests staying in their casino hotels.

Gaming supervisors must have leadership qualities and good communication skills. They need these techniques both to supervise staff properly and to greet bettors in order to encourage return visits. Quite a few casino supervisory staff have an associate or bachelor's degree. Regardless of their educational background, however, many supervisors gain expertise in other gambling jobs before moving into supervisory positions because an understanding of games and casino operations is important for these staff.
