There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which gambling den betting is not allowed. Eight gambling halls are based in a generally tiny space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect area, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital acquired from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; although, financing sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 1700, and despite the fact visas are for all intents and purposes needed to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is true of many borders.

The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of 150 slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 one armed bandits and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and 66 of the normal table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational vacation and hotel building that contains a number of comforts accompanying the gambling den, which contains ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 table games.
